The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Loganville-Grayson.
Happy Wednesday! It's time to check out your local news. Here's what's happening on this chilly December morning:
- Don't miss the local basketball Battle of Champions featuring some of the best girl's high school basketball in the state.
- Georgia Power increase to begin with January's power bill. See how it might affect you.
- TikTok bans spreading rapidly throughout government entities, including Georgia and its universities and colleges.
But first, today's weather:
It's cold, and it's getting colder. Today we'll see a little afternoon sunshine to help warm us up to a high of 46, but be ready for the rain coming in tonight to drop us to a low of 38.

Here are the top stories today in Loganville-Grayson:
- Northside Hospital Gwinnett, based in nearby Lawrenceville, will soon continue its growth with a big expansion project. Gwinnett County's third largest employer will be adding an additional 3,000 jobs by 2025 with the opening of its 17-story expansion. A big motivation for the expansion was the closing of Wellstar's Atlanta Medical Center, which has put pressure on Northside's capacity. (Newsbreak)
- The City of Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County Habitat for Humanity will be starting a new project during the first quarter of 2023. The City Council recently voted to approve the agreement for the construction of four houses on land provided by the City of Lawrenceville, and the city will also contribute $100,000 to the project. City employee volunteers will work on two of the houses, and information on volunteering will be updated at lawrencevillega.org. The homes will be sold to families who meet Habitat's requirements. - The Public Service Commission did approve the Georgia Power rate increase that will begin with January power bill. Georgia Power customers can expect an average increase of $3.60/month or a 2.5 percent on their bill. Beginning in 2024, rates will increase another 4.5 percent and with an additional 4.5 percent increase imposed once again in 2025. (Northwest Georgia News)

- Following Gov. Brian Kemp's lead, The University System of Georgia announced a ban on the use of TikTok on any computers or phones owned by any of its universities and colleges. Some public universities in other states are banning students from using their university's Wi-Fi to access TikTok, but there is no response at this time on whether that may happen in Georgia. The ban on TikTok has become more widespread in recent months as it's believed that foreign governments could use the app to access private information. (WSBTV)
