Here are the top stories in Loganville-Grayson today:

  1. The search is on for Janae Samantha Fareaux. Police say she has robbed two Gwinnett County banks in just two days, including a Wells Fargo on Killian Hill Road and a Trust Bank on Pleasant Hill Road. In one incident, she demanded to get into the vault and was not successful in taking anything, and in the second incident she handed a note to the teller and left with over $2,000 in cash. Detectives report that she was seen wearing a long black wig, a gray t-shirt over a black shirt and black pants. There could be a reward for information leading to her arrest. Gwinnett County detectives ask for anyone who may have information to call 770-577-TIPS or visit www.stopcrimeATL.com. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. Deputy James Thomas, a 24 year-old from Mississippi, was shot to death Thursday morning in Fulton County after ending his shift. Deputy Thomas is the second metro Atlanta officer shot, while off duty, in just over two weeks. Senior Correctional Officer Scott Riner was killed before his shift in Gwinnett County. Deputy Thomas was found, deceased, in his wrecked vehicle in the middle of Bolton Road, and police are working to find out if the shooting occurred before or after the car accident. Police have received reports that his vehicle was driving erratically and collided with a van, after the van's driver contacted police to give the account of the incident. The driver reported that they believed they heard gunshots around the time of the collision. Police do not believe that the driver was involved in the fatal shooting. By Friday, the reward for information leading to an arrest, had reached $30,000. Call CrimeStoppers at 404-577-8477 with information. (Newsbreak)
  3. Gwinnett County Police DUI Task Force will be out in full force this New Year's Eve with a focus on keeping roads safe. Many officers volunteered to supplement the task force and help to patrol for impaired drivers. The task force will begin additional patrols at 7:00pm tonight and remain on the roads to provide extra support until 5:00am on New Year's Day. There are many options for impaired individuals to get home, so if you consume alcohol, make sure to have a designated driver in place, plan to use a ride share, or call a taxi service.
