- Local Gwinnett libraries have been facing backlash from parents, with complaints about books about sex education and about gender identity being placed in the children's section. After finding a book that is meant for education in the children's section that contained some explicit content, a local Buford resident made a complaint to the library. Other parents have also been complaining about books relating to gender identity, as some people feel as if it violates their religious beliefs. Charles Pace, Gwinnett County Public Library System Executive Director made a statement defending intellectual freedom and believes that the materials should be available to people so they can make a decision on what they want their children to read.
