City officials joined representatives of the Georgia Municipal Association in honoring former Councilman Chuck Bagley, who passed away earlier this year.

“This morning we are given the opportunity to say thank-you to a very special family,” said Lamar Norton, executive director of the GMA, who added that the board of directors “proposed a resolution to honor one of our very best.”

The resolution noted not only Bagley’s service to the city, as his untimely death came in the middle of his third term as a councilman, but also his service to his country as a veteran, proud supporter and past chairman of the board of directors of Communities in Schools as well as his dedication to his church, Loganville First United Methodist Church, and to American Legion Post 233.

Norton also pointed out that Bagley was very much a proponent of training, being appointed to the organization’s Municipal Training Board in 2014 where he not only played a role in development of new training courses but also the establishment of the Certificate of Dedication. Bagley recorded 240 hours of classes through the GMA as well as the Association of the County Commissioners of Georgia as he also served one term on the Walton County Board of Commissioners.
