Loganville Mayor Talks Government to Kids at The Path Project

Loganville Mayor Dan Curry spoke to a group of kids at The Path Project to talk about government Monday (Oct. 7).

A group of 35 third, fourth and fifth graders from J.C. Magill Elementary listened and asked questions as Curry explained what it was like to be mayor, how one becomes mayor and what the job responsibilities are. He also discussed how the local government relates to state and national governments. 

"They're learning about this in school," said Jim Hollandsworth, the executive director of the Path Project. "It was fun!" 

The mayor met with the kids at the Gwinnett Estates Mobile Home Park where The Path Project community center is located. 

The Path Project offers programs at different mobile home communities in Loganville and Snellville. The goal of the organization is to address the challenges that at-risk children face due to the absence of positive role models, lack of basic skills, and the hopelessness that leads to gang activity, teen pregnancy, and dropping out of high school, according to the organization's website.
