Loganville PD Lieutenant Suffers Traumatic Brain Injury
Lieutenant Bruce Showalter was doing work in his home when he fell from a ladder striking his head.

LOGANVILLE, GA—A lieutenant with the Loganville Police Department is in the hospital recovering after suffering a traumatic brain injury while working in his yard last week.
According to a GoFundMe page started by a member of the Loganville Police Department, Lt. Bruce Showalter was doing work in his home when he fell from a ladder and struck his head. Unfortunately, due to this fall, it resulted in a brain bleed.
He is currently in a neurological intensive care unit at Gwinnett Medical Center.

"He has made amazing progress over the last few days but has a long way to go. In addition to the costs of intensive hospitalization, he will also face significant medical costs for rehabilitative services during his recovery," Morris Lowry, the GoFundMe page organizer.
Lieutenant Showalter served his nation as a soldier in the U.S. Army, and has been a career law enforcement officer of over 30 years service, Lowry said.

Lowry is hoping to raise at least $25,000 to help pay for Showalter's medical expenses. As of Tuesday, more than $8,000 had been raised.
"We are raising funds to assist his family with these unexpected medical expenses as well as anything else they may need to assist in his recovery," Lowry said. "All donations will go directly to his family. His family and his brothers and sisters at the Loganville Police Department greatly appreciate your support."
