The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Loganville-Grayson.

Morning, everybody! It's me, Nicole Fallon-Peek, your host of the Loganville-Grayson Daily — here to tell you everything you need to know about what's happening in town these days. Let's do this...

First, today's weather:

A t-storm around in the p.m. High: 92 Low: 74.

Here are the top five stories today in Loganville-Grayson:

  1. The data from the Georgia Milestones End-of-Grade and End-of-Course assessment shows students in the Walton County School District met or exceeded the average performance across the state of Georgia. The performance improvement was across almost all tested grade levels and subjects. Superintendent Nathan Franklin said, "Despite the COVID-19 challenges, we believe our ability to remain open for in-person learning has positively impacted our students academically, socially, and emotionally." (Monroe Local News - Loganville)
  2. Andrew Jones, 34, of Gwinnett County, has been charged with trafficking heroin, trafficking fentanyl, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Officials with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say they received information that Jones was giving fentanyl to several women and expected them to repay him with cash or sexual favors. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  3. The Gwinnett Place Mall Site Revitalization Team suggested Wednesday that the mall consider a "Global Villages"-style redevelopment. The style would include thousands of residential units, retail and office space, park spaces, a cultural center, and a parking deck. The team's recommendation – which took months of research – will be recommended to the Gwinnett County commissioners. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  4. A Loganville family is planning to move so their 15-year-old son doesn't have to go back to Loganville High School next year. Andrew Smith was allegedly attacked by four fellow students in March; police reports claim the four students locked him in the bathroom, assaulted him, and threw bleach on him. Smith's mother said the school never called to tell her about the incident; Smith said he called for help and no one came. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  5. COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Georgia. Gwinnett County has reported 2,374 more cases and eight COVID-19-related deaths in the past week. Walton County has reported 264 more cases and three deaths. (Monroe Local News - Loganville)
