Loganville Wants Local Restaurants, Trader Joe's, Steakhouse

LOGANVILLE, GA — When it comes to new businesses in the Loganville-Grayson area, a lot of you are thinking local.

Some familiar names popped up when we asked what business you'd like to see come to town on the Loganville-Grayson Patch Facebook page. Trader Joe's got a lot of love. Kohl's and Target had a bunch of fans, too.

But, more than any single chain store or restaurant, our followers said they'd like to see locally owned restaurants and shops open up nearby.

"No more chain restaurants or stores. Please no more fast food!" one of our followers wrote. "I wish we had a small town feel like Monroe. The ice cream parlor, stores and downtown restaurants are wonderful."

Another wrote: "I would LOVE to see more restaurants that aren't big chains. We really don't need another Olive Garden or random chain restaurant."

The thread's roughly 90 respondents were willing to make an exception or two to that trend, though — particularly for hot, tasty doughnuts.

A lot of readers said they want a Krispy Kreme in town. The North Carolina-based chain got the most votes of any single restaurant chain.

Loganville and Grayson also really want a steakhouse, apparently. Outback, Longhorn and Texas Roadhouse combined for a hefty number of responses.

A movie theater also was near the top in terms of responses.

In terms of retail outlets, specialty grocer Trader Joe's, department store Kohl's and discount giant Target topped the list.

"Target and Chipotle," one reader responded. "But especially Target. I'd never have to leave Loganville again!"

A somewhat surprising response had several supporters in the thread. What do they want to come to town? Absolutely nothing.

"Traffic is already too bad and everything is within a reasonable driving distance now, so why duplicate," a reader wrote.
