Man Attempts Assault, Fatally Shot By Driver: Snellville Police

A man attempting to assault another man who was pulled over was shot and killed, according to Snellville police.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A man was killed Saturday evening while trying to assault another man, according to Gwinnett police.

Police said 22-year-old Avery Nowlin of Snellville, was found dead in the street shortly after 6:45 p.m. along Golfe Links Drive in unincorporated Snellville. Investigators believe Nowlin approached Darius Bush, 22, who was sitting in his car in a parking lot. Nowlin was armed with a weapon when he attempted to assault Bush.

Fearing for his life, Bush fired his gun and struck Nowlin. Bush is not being charged at this time, police said.

“In the state of Georgia a person is justified in threatening or using force against another when and to the extent that he or she reasonably believes that such threat or force is necessary to defend himself or herself or a third person against such other's imminent use of unlawful force,” said police in the release.
