School Regional Superintendent Enters Race for Seat on Grayson City Council

Trenton Arnold, a regional superintendent for the DeKalb County School District, qualified Tuesday (Aug. 27) for Post 2 on the Grayson City Council, according to the city. 

Arnold has been an educator with DeKalb for 22 years and has served as a middle school principal, assistant principal and more. Qualifying for Grayson is his first time running for public office. 

He's lived in the Grayson area for 20 years and in the city limits for five years. He enjoys Grayson because its a growing city that keeps its small-town characteristics. 

Post 2 has been held for the last 12 years by Allison Wilkerson, who officially qualified to run for mayor Monday (Aug. 26). Current Mayor Jim Hinkle said he will not be seeking re-election.

In addition to the mayor's seat and Post 2, Post 4 also will be on the ballot for the November general election. Post 4 is currently held by Councilwoman Katie Mitchell, who has not qualified as of 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Wednesday is the last day for Grayson's qualifying period. Interested parties have from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Grayson City Hall to qualify.
