- Milton's Municipal Election Feasibility Committee is researching how Loganville conducts its municipal elections. The committee held its first meeting on Jun. 15 to study whether or not Milton should run its own municipal elections. The Loganville study is to help the committee learn about the associated costs and benefits attached to operating an independent municipal election in Georgia. (appenmedia.com)
- Highly sought-after college football recruit Jalen Smith has set a deadline for his decision announcement. Smith will announce which college football team he will play for on July 10 at 6:00 p.m. The 6-foot, 213-pound linebacker from Loganville has received scholarship offers from over 40 different colleges but has not officially announced a group of final candidates. - A Gwinnett County resident narrowly escaped his home before it was completely consumed by a fire. The incident occurred in the 1500 block of Ridgewood Drive on Sunday night. It took fire crews operating multiple hoses about 50 minutes to control the blaze. Thankfully, nobody was injured and the fire was contained to just his home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
