According to prosecutors, Young entered the Kroger at about 11:15 a.m. and stood with two other people in the shopping cart area for about an hour.

He opened fire, striking Audrey Sabala, and Ana-Bel Mojica, then ran upstairs into a manager's office, where he fired another round toward a room where an employee was hiding.

Young discarded the two guns he had used in a bin outside the office and remained there until he was taken into custody.

Both women were treated at Gwinnett Medical Center for their wounds. Sabala was shot in the abdomen and Mojica was shot in the leg.

According to statements Young and his wife made to police, he believed that someone was out to get him and that he was defending himself.

Young's wife told officers he had been behaving erratically and firing shots at their home before going to the Kroger.

Police and prosecutors say there was no evidence that anyone had actually threatened Young.

Judge Debra Turner sentenced Young to a total sentence of 20 years, with the first 10 to be served in confinement.
