Melvin Weingarten, age 87, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2015. He was born June 20, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Tulane University. Melvin was associated with Rich’s Department Stores for over 42 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Temple.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Sam Weingarten, wife Mary Odom Weingarten, and his grandson Taylor Weingarten. He is survived by his sons and their wives, Melvin and Terry Weingarten, Jr of Hiawassee, GA, Michael and Lynda Weingarten of Snellville, GA , and Martin and Shirley Weingarten of Stone Mountain, GA, and three grandsons, Matthew, Eric and Neil Weingarten. He is also survived by his brother and his wife, Gene and Olivia Weingarten of Birmingham, AL, and his sister and her husband, Carol and Warren Kohn of Columbia, SC. Melvin also is survived by a niece and nephews and cousins.
