Men On 4-Wheelers Stole, Burned Truck: Fire Officials

Investigators say they stole the pickup from a Gwinnett County business, but only got a few yards before bogging down in a field.

LOGANVILLE, GA — Fire investigators in Gwinnett County are still working on an arson case in which three men stole, then burned a truck after it bogged down in mud just feet away.

The incident happened back on Sept. 12, shortly before 6 p.m. at Emba Transportation on Rosebud Road in Loganville. Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services officials are just now releasing details, hoping for the public's help in cracking the case.

Someone captured a cellphone photo of three men riding four-wheelers in the area, according to fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge. Those men are believed to have stolen the pickup truck from the business, then set it on fire after it got stuck in mud in a field a few yards away.

It's not clear whether the truck's owner was targeted or the crime was random, Rutledge said.

"An exact motive in the case and the potential suspects remains largely unknown," Rutledge said.
