Here are the top five stories in Loganville-Grayson today:

1. New Birth Missionary Baptist Church distributed 3,000 pairs of new shoes to families at its 2022 Back-to-School Event on Saturday. During June and July, church members collected shoes from people all across the nation, and any family who registered their children came to the event and picked up shoes during an assigned time. The senior pastor, Dr. Jamal H. Bryant, gave his thanks to all who helped out with the event to make it a success and help families in need. (On Common Ground News)
2. Piedmont Orthopedics | OrthoAtlanta opened a new location in Snellville on the Piedmont Eastside Medical Center's main campus. The location will provide expert orthopedic and sports medicine care to those in Gwinnett County, including Grayson, Loganville, and Stone Mountain areas. The CEO of Piedmont Eastside, Trent Lind, welcomed Dr. Ryan Mahoney and OrthoAtlanta to the South Gwinnett Community. (Cision - PR Newswire)
3. A Georgia State University campus police officer has been arrested and charged with rape and kidnapping. The suspect is 59-year-old Terry Payne of Loganville. According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, the alleged attack happened at a hotel across the street from the restaurant the two were attending. Officials say a toxicology report is still pending, but the victim's story lines up with the date rape drug being used. (News Channel 9)
4. Coming off a 10-win season, Georgia's No. 1 team is ready to get going and believes they are even stronger in 2022. Head coach Adam Carter and the Rams are looking through the pitfalls and obstacles they went through in 2021 to make them an even stronger state contender this fall.
