- PCOM Georgia's Alisa Toney, senior director of development, was named the chair of the Leadership Gwinnett Foundation board of directors. According to the president and CEO, "Alisa brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, judgment, and insight, coupled with a demonstrated commitment to Leadership Gwinnett that makes me very excited about what happens next." - Emory University Hospital has been ranked the No. 1 hospital in Georgia and metro Atlanta by the U.S. News and World Report. Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital and Emory University Hospital Midtown both ranked in the top 5 Best Regional Hospitals. - The Gwinnett County Police Foundation awarded seven college scholarships at its quarterly board meeting, including three local grads. These annual scholarships are awarded to children of active Gwinnett County Police Department employees to encourage the pursuit of "academic excellence and leadership." The 2022 recipients included Jenna McClendon and Victoria Barnhart, both of Loganville High School, and Lexington Acevedo of Grayson High School. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
- A search warrant served at a Loganville home helped lead to the arrest of a Walton County couple who were accused of molesting their adopted children. According to officials, a resident of the Loganville home had been downloading "homemade child sexual abuse material." That person pointed police to the home of a married couple located along St. Regis Way in Oxford, where investigators found enough evidence to arrest the couple for abusing the pair of siblings they adopted. They were reportedly booked into the Walton County Jail last week. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- What's new in the Loganville-Grayson housing market? Five homes on Moon Road in Grayson have recently been listed for sale, ranging in price from $372,900 to $400,900. - August is Traffic Awareness Month, and Gwinnett County encourages drivers to keep safety tips in mind while traveling along roadways. Be sure to use turn signals, do not use a cell phone while driving, remain conscious of your surroundings, and leave plenty of space between your vehicles and others on the road. - The Hamilton Mill library branch had its first session of Reading Buddies on Wednesday where children in grades K to 3 were able to practice their reading skills with a trained reader!
