Here are the top stories today in Loganville-Grayson:
- New lawsuits have been filed to challenge that state and local officials are not enforcing "local zoning codes and land disturbance permits" with the Rivian plant project. Some residents in Morgan and Walton counties have continued to try and block progress, as they fear the EV plant will bring further developments and traffic to their rural area. Two lawsuits were filed in both Fulton and Morgan counties, and until the lawsuits are resolved, construction may be halted. (WUGA)
- A heavy law enforcement presence was evident just outside of Loganville in Bold Springs on Wednesday afternoon. Although there were not many details available, the Walton County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that they are "assisting the FBI with a search warrant in the Bold Springs area." Because this is an ongoing FBI investigation, details will not be available at this time. (Monroe Local)
- Lawrenceville is the next Gwinnett County city to approve a street racing and reckless driving exhibitions ordinance, following Norcross, Duluth, and Snellville. City officials felt that without the ordinance, the scene might be pushed into the Lawrenceville area. The ordinance stipulates that involved parties, including organizers, promoters, and participants, can be fined up to $1,000 and face six months in jail, and the drivers' cars can be impounded. Spectators can also be fined up to $300 and face six months in jail. Deputy City Manager Steve North said that the ordinance is a proactive measure as they haven't had too many incidents in the past.
