Olympic Fever Hits Monroe
Bounty threw an Olympic Party in Monroe Sunday for a Monroe mom, her two daughters and a whole slew of budding gymnasts in the area.
Londonβs 2012 Summer Olympics came to Monroe Sunday for Megan Sims and a group of friends and fellow gymnasts of her two daughters, Delaney, 8, and Cidella, 6. was part of the grand prize in Bountyβs βMess Behind the Gloryβ Contest. Sims won the party for her family by submitting a 90-minute video that described her childrenβs athletic dreams and how she lets them βBring It.β In addition to the Olympic viewing party, Sims won a $5,000 grant and a yearβs supply of bounty.
While the party was a hit with the girls and their friends, Sims said the $5,000 would come in handy in helping fund gymnastics for the two young girls.
βWe fundraise all year,β Sims said. βGymnastics is a pretty expensive sport and having two of them in it is expensive β this will definitely help.β

Sims said she was so thrilled when she heard they had won, and it was a hectic rush to get ready for the party. MSL senior account executive Stephanie Herzfeld, who organized the party for Bounty, flew in from New York for the party. She was met at the Sims house by a crew from Bounty who drove in gymnastic equipment for the big event. Herzfeld said when she arrived, Sims already had the home decorated for the occasion.
βI canβt believe she did such a great job,β Herzfeld said. βWe couldnβt have chosen a better winner. All these 2012 Olympic decorations that you see, Megan did those. β

Sims also had Olympic themed food available for all the guests and a big screen television was mounted outside for the young gymnasts to watch the games in between performing their own moves on the equipment. Sims said her two daughters were always climbers, so gymnastics just seemed like a natural sport to enroll them in. The girls attend Rockdale/Walton Gymnastics at the old Monroe Area High School gymnasium on the Athens Tech campus.
Olympic gold-medal gymnast Shawn Johnson and her mother, Teri, collaborated with Bounty on the βBring Itβ Contest. Sims winning entry can be viewed in the images attached to this story.
