One Harvest Food Ministries Providing Affordable Family Meals
One Harvest Food Ministries is working to help provide families with affordable meals while raising funds for non-profit partners at the same time.
One Harvest Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational, faith based organization working to help families across the country provide affordable food to their families.
The organization was founded in June of 2010 and began by serving families in Georgia and northern Florida. Expanding to serve people throughout the South, Texas and Indiana, One Harvest Food Ministries receives food directly from manufacturers and premium growers in the United States. Food is then packaged in a sealed ONEHARVEST box and delivered to a local non-profit partner organization. Families can order food boxes through their local non-profit partners (click here to find a location nearest you) or order online. All orders must be picked up at one of the Partner Sites listed online.
"While many food assistance programs look at filling bellies, One Harvest provides high quality food at a price people can afford. Just look at the One Harvest menu and you will see item such as choice cut steaks, fresh frozen vegetables, apple pecan stuffed chicken breast and other items you would not see offered by many organizations of their kind. It is a philosophy that the people served by One Harvest find refreshing," stated Doug Metcalfe in a press release.

"The other difference you will find with One Harvest is the constant striving to provide the best value for the people being served. This past month a vendor offered significant savings on a staple for their two main boxes, 'The Family Box' and their 'More than Enough' box. Instead of keeping the savings as a profit, One Harvest decided to use the money saved on that one item and put more items into each box during the month of May. It was a decision that they did not even have to think about. Serving people by providing the highest value is at the core of the One Harvest philosophy!"
Metcalfe told Patch that every month the staff at One Harvest purchases food boxes from local partner sites the same way everyone else does. This is where the organization came up with the concept; “If we won’t put it on our own table, we certainly won’t put it on yours.”
