Police Chase Ends in Barrow County SWAT Standoff
A suspect appeared to be under arrest by about 5 p.m. Monday.

AUBURN, GA — A man who stole a car in Gwinnett County Monday afternoon led law enforcement on a chase into Barrow County before holing up inside a home there, police say.
After a several-hour standoff, the suspect appeared to have come out of the home and was placed under arrest at about 5 p.m.
A Barrow County SWAT team had responded to the scene, as well as officers from Gwinnett and the city of Auburn.

After stealing the car, the man drove through a subdivision sign in Barrow County and crashed into a home in Auburn, police said.
Barrow County Sheriff Judd Smith told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the man ran into the house, at the corner of Gladiola Drive and Carl Bethlehem Road.

Three people ran outside and the suspect remained alone in the house, police said.
Shortly before 5 p.m., SWAT officers were seen pumping tear gas into the home in an effort to get the suspect to come out.
