Gwinnett Police are investigating a possible accidental shooting Sunday evening that allegedly involves Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill.

Police first reported the shooting in an email just after 7 p.m.

The woman was taken in critical condition to Gwinnett Medical Center. The scene is in an area in unincorporated Gwinnett County near Tribble Mill Park.

β€œThe shooter has been identified as Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill,” Doan said in the news release. ”The shooting has been reported as accidental.”

Doan said Hill refused to speak with police at the scene and was released.

β€œGwinnett County Police Criminal Investigations Division has been consulting with the District Attorney’s Office on the investigation,” Doan said. β€œThere are no charges filed against Sheriff Hill at this time and the investigation is ongoing.”

WXIA-TV reported the scene was a model home and the woman was apparently showing the house to Hill and two other people. Hill was re-elected as Clayton’s sheriff in 2012, despite facing corruption charges. He was acquitted of the charges, Channel 11 reported.
