Here are the top stories today in Loganville-Grayson:

  1. Gwinnett County, Georgia's second largest county, has a 26 percent vacancy rate with its police force. This issue is not unique to Gwinnett County. Law enforcement officers are resigning and retiring around the country, and the climate surrounding the police has caused recruiting and attrition to suffer. In 2019, Gwinnett County Police Department only had a 13 percent vacancy rate, so it has doubled since that time. Leaders within the force hope that creating a positive image will help increase the number of applicants. (Police 1)
  2. Ralph Stokes, the vice president of PGA Tour Superstore, is now the first Black man elected president of the Georgia State Golf Association. Stokes, having served as vice president, led multiple committees, and been a member of the board of directors since 2017, was a "foregone conclusion" to take over the president duties. Stokes will now "oversee the state's amateur game." (Atlanta Journal and Constitution)
  3. The family of a Hall County man, Bryson Moore, wants to thank two Gwinnett County firefighters who stopped to help Moore, and saved his life. Moore was hit by a driver, who fled the scene and left him in the road in Braselton. A Gwinnett County firefighter, on his way to work, immediately stopped to help Moore until paramedics arrived on scene. A second Gwinnett County firefighter also arrived to render aid. The victim's family is thankful for the two men who saved Bryson Moore's life. (Newsbreak)
