🌱 Pregnant Woman Struck By Vehicle + 222 Inmates Moved To County

Here are the top five stories today in and around Loganville-Grayson:
- An accident in Gwinnett County has left an Afghan refugee dead. Sajida Hussaini, 34 years old, was struck by a car when she exited her Uber on Hewatt Road. Hussaini was reportedly pregnant at the time of the incident. Alcohol has been considered a factor in the incident but speed has not been determined. The investigation is still ongoing. (Nationwide Report)

- Jed Dasher, 41 years old, has been sentenced to 30 days in prison for fleeing from the scene of an accident. He was located and arrested by Walton County Sheriff's Office deputies after fleeing from Covington Police Department officers. He was the passenger of a vehicle that crashed in the yard of a West Dixie Highway residence. (Morgan County Citizen)
- Gwinnett County has signed a new contract to house 222 state inmates at the county's Correctional complex. The contract is with the state's Department of Corrections and lasts for one year. The inmates will be used by Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation to help complete tasks that upkeep the city. The state is paying the county $22 per day per inmate. (11 Alive)
- The Gwinnett County Police Department is reminding residents to move over a lane when encountering emergency vehicles. The reminder has been issued in response to two patrol cars being struck over the weekend while responding to a crash on Interstate 85. Thankfully, the vehicles were unoccupied. This is still a reminder to move over when encountering flashing lights. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
