Here are the top five stories today in Loganville-Grayson:

  1. The City of Loganville is conducting another Public Hearing this Thursday, Jun. 9 at 6:00 p.m. This hearing will be held prior to the council meeting. The purpose will be to discuss the Budget for the Fiscal Year ending on June 30, 2023. (City of Loganville)
  2. Get ready for Loganville's Independence Celebration happening Saturday, Jun. 25! The family-friendly event will have games and activities with food vendors on-site. There will also be a DJ providing the music before the SkynFolks -Lynyrd Skynyrd cover band takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks will follow the concert. The celebration will take place at 925 Twin Lakes Road. Mark your calendars! (City of Loganville Events)

  4. Lewallen Construction was recently awarded a $3.4 million contract to extend the Ivy Creek Greenway. The 3.4-mile trail is about 18 miles from the center of Loganville and features wooden bridges and gorgeous waterfalls. The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners awarded Lewallen Construction the money through a 2017 special purpose local option sales tax. The extension will run 1.8 miles from the new trailhead at George Pierce Park to Westbrook Road and then be connected to existing trails totaling about 10 miles. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  5. Teen artists and writers: here's your call to create! Gwinnett Library's literary magazine, Universal Scribbles, is accepting entries from Jun. 5 to Jul. 31 from those in grades 6 through 12.
