  1. Three men were indicted, in Gwinnett County, on Thursday, after a victim report was submitted to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. The Georgia Cyber Fraud Task Force referred the case to the Office of the Inspector General, who investigated the the case with the GBI resulting in Ugochinyere Anazodo is facing four counts of racketeering, one count of money laundering, and one count of theft by taking. Dominique Beaulieu and Willy Obena, were each indicted on two counts of racketeering. The three men are accused of using an email scam to target the Georgia Department of Transportation and a romance scam to target at least one private citizen, who filed a compaint. "This indictment is just the latest in our ongoing efforts to combat cybercrime in our state," according to Attorney General, Chris Carr. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. A former teacher entered a guilty plea, on Thursday, Feb.23, to "sexual battery against underage victims in Walton, Oconee, and Morgan counties." Ryan Rickard will spend 15 years in prison and 10 years on probation, and he will have to register as a sex offender when he is released. Rickard worked at North Oconee until the mid-2010's and then left for an assistant principal position at Morgan County High School in Madison. The GBI investigated him, and DA's in all three counties worked together with the GBI and the victims to approve the plea deal. (Monroe Local)

  • Two local men, Walton County firefighter and EMT Joshua Chapman and Georgia State Trooper Cpl. Larry Ray answered a call to a chaotic scene of two people in an opioid crisis. The two men, Chapman and Ray, administered Narcan and saved the life of both individuals. Sheriff Joe Chapman presented both men with commendations at the Board of Commissioners meeting in February.   • The Grayson Rams boys basketball team won this weekend, by 23 points to advance to the quarterfinals. With a strong defensive showing, the Rams secured their victory. With five players in double figures, CJ Hyland led the team with 25 points, and Chad Moodie had 12 points. Grayson will play host to Walton at Archer High School as they continue to be the temporary "home" court for the Rams. (Newsbreak)
