There were "multiple critical violations" found at the restaurant during its health inspection on Tuesday.

LOGANVILLE, GA β "Multiple critical violations," including live roaches and flies in the kitchen, were discovered during a health inspection Tuesday at Buffalo's Cafe in Loganville.
The popular bar and grill, at 910 Athens Hwy., scored a terribly low 45/U on the inspection report.
Most glaringly, inspectors "observed live roaches and flies present throughout kitchen," according to the report.

An employee was seen handling raw hamburger meat, then touching a seasoning container, a door handle to the walk-in cooler, a prep table and a set of tongs β all without removing gloves and washing hands. There were no paper towels at a hand sink, four dented cans were found among the restaurant's stored food and multiple dishes that were supposed to be clean had food debris on them.
There was a "black substance" in the restaurant's ice machine and food that was supposed to be in cold storage was being stored at more than 41 degrees. Two coolers weren't working properly, the back door to the kitchen was found propped open and several sauces had been taken out of their original packaging but not properly labeled.

The restaurant was also found to not have a certified food safety manager, according to the report.
The terrible score β anything below a 70 is considered unsatisfactory β was a steep drop-off for Buffalo's Cafe. The restaurant had earned a 92/A on its most recent inspection in March and a 98/A on the inspection before that, in January.
According to state policy, the restaurant will be inspected again within the next 10 days. If the problems from the original inspection have not been addressed, the inspectors could temporarily shut the restaurant down until they are fixed.
