- Walton County Board of Commissioners will consider a rezone request from Reliant Homes on Tuesday evening, Dec.6 for 92 acres in Loganville, at Broadnax Mill and Marce Camp roads, to be zoned to make way for a 68-home subdivision. - Looking for an opportunity to give back to your community? The Walton County Empty Stocking Fund needs volunteers to help deliver meals to local residents. The event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 8 a.m. at Journey Church. They will need help to deliver 260 boxes of food throughout our community. You just need to show up and volunteers will load your car and provide you with an address. (Monroe Local)
- You don't have to drive all the way to Atlanta to ice skate! The Ice Rink at Sugar Hill is a short drive into northern Gwinnett County and offers an old-fashioned experience for families and friends. There are several opportunities in the Atlanta area to enjoy the feeling of a winter wonderland while gliding around the rinks. (Newsbreak)
- The Gas South District, in the nearby town of Duluth, will host the Gwinnett Ballet Theater production of "The Nutcracker." The local show has been running for 41 years, and it's one of the longest running productions in the state. Shows that run from Dec. 9-18 will be accompanied by the theater's LIVE orchestra. There is also an opportunity to give back to local families in need by bringing much needed items, like laundry detergent, dry cereal, zip-lock bags, and pasta, to the show. - The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office Court Operations Division successfully conducted a multi-agency, active shooter exercise on Dec. 3 in an effort to enhance cohesiveness among multiple emergency response agencies in Gwinnett County.
