Shots Fired Into Vehicle: Gwinnett Police Need More Info

Gwinnett Police detectives need more information about a man who they say fired several shots into a vehicle in Norcross.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Gwinnett County Police Department detectives are looking for more information about a man who they say fired several rounds into a vehicle Nov. 12, 2017, at the JSD Apartments, located at 2232 Sarah Court, Norcross. No one was injured in the shooting.

Charles Bacote, 34, known as “Carlos” or “Los,” has been arrested for aggravated assault, for firing several rounds into a vehicle that was occupied by a 23 year old man, police say. Bacote and the man shot at fled the scene and officers found the the bullet-riddled car unoccupied. Detectives later identified the man shot at and determined he had not been injured during the shooting. The victim and witnesses were reluctant to identify Bacote out of fear of reprisal.

Bacote is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail

While investigating this incident, detectives identified Bacote as a person-of-interest in several violent crimes, including a homicide that occurred Jan. 14, 2018 at 2232 Rockbridge Court, unincorporated Norcross at the Rockbridge Court Apartments.

According to police, Bacote is well known to residents of the area, however, potential witnesses have been reluctant to speak with police. Detectives hope that Bacote’s arrest will give witnesses peace of mind to come forward to share information vital to solving these cases.
