Space Still Available in Loganville 4th of July Parade
The Loganville parade is set for Saturday, July 2 at 10 a.m.

LOGANVILLE, GA -- Space is still available for folks interested in participating in Loganville's Independence Day Parade.
The parade is set for Saturday, July 2, at 10 a.m.
"This is a great opportunity for local businesses, civic groups and other organizations to not only celebrate the founding of our great nation but to gain exposure to an event that traditionally draws thousands of residents dressed in red, white and blue," said Kristy Peters, events and marketing director for the City of Loganville. "This is always such a great event and we are looking for some more participants to help make this even better."

The annual parade began in 2006 as a community-organized event, with Patrick Fenneran and his wife, Sharon, serving as the driving force behind its creation.
It has since become a city-sponsored event that featured a variety of organizations and businesses honoring the armed services and celebrating the founding of the United States.

It also serves as a fundraiser, benefiting the Shepherd's Staff food bank. Participants are asked to donate canned goods for the Loganville-based nonprofit.
Participants also are asked to design patriotic floats or patriotic attire to wear while walking in the parade.
Applications and additional information can be found on Loganville's website.
The parade begins at Bay Creek Elementary School and makes its way down Main Street in Loganville.
The City of Loganville will continue its celebration later Saturday evening with a fireworks show.
It will be the first fireworks show organized by the city and is funded entirely through donations from the local business community.
Fireworks will be launched from behind the American Legion Post 233, and will be visible from areas around both the Ingles and Kroger shopping centers.
The extended weather forecast for the Atlanta area calls for a high of 90 next Saturday. And you may want to pack an umbrella -- there's currently a 60 percent chance of thundershowers throughout the day and into the evening.
