Three HHGregg Locations In Gwinnett To Close

The electronics chain has filed for bankruptcy and plans to liquidate all of its assets.

SNELLVILLE, GA — Three HHGregg locations in Gwinnett County will be among the 220 stores the chain plans to close by the end of May.

The Indianapolis-based electronics, appliance and furniture retailer has announced that it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after failing to find a buyer willing to keep the stores in business.

"While we had discussions with more than 50 private equity firms, strategic buyers, and other investors, unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in our plan to secure a viable buyer of the business on a going concern basis within the expedited timeline set by our creditors," said Bob Riesbeck, president and CEO of HHGregg, in a news release.
