Thunderstorms Knock Out Power, Down Trees in Douglasville
The storm came through around 4 a.m. on Friday, downing trees onto Interstate 20 and knocking out street lights downtown.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Thunderstorms that blew through Douglasville early Friday downed trees and knocked out power to thousands of residents.
Debris from the storm temporarily blocked lanes of Interstate 20, traffic lights were out for hours and reports of heavy wind and hail were made in the area, according to police and other public officials.
At 10 a.m. on Friday, 1,575 people in Douglasville were still without power, according to Georgia Power's online outage map.

"Severe weather has caused widespread outages," the power company wrote. "We apologize for any inconvenience."
According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms hit the Douglasville area around 4 a.m. Friday and lasted for about an hour.

According to the Douglasville Police Department, multiple lanes of I-20 westbound were blocked with downed trees. The storm also knocked out power downtown, disabling street lights on Highway 78.
