🌱 Trafficked Teen Rescued In Lawrenceville + Bounce Away On Saturday

Good morning all. It's me again! Let's get this weekend started off right with a quick guide to what's happening these days in town, including updates on:

  • Missing teen rescued from a Collin Hill Walmart after being trafficked in Gwinnett

  • Loganville Christian Academy boys basketball team advances to the Elite 8 in Macon

  1. Lawrenceville Police answered a call, Wednesday night, for a child in distress at a Collins Hill Walmart. The 14-year old girl was a missing juvenile from Cobb County, who was rescued and reunited with her family so she can get the physical and emotional help she needs. Three men were arrested after the investigation revealed that they had held and trafficked the girl for almost two weeks in a Gwinnett County apartment. The three men are being held without bond. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. A Gwinnett County Police officer is recovering from a head injury after her vehicle was struck by a driver on I-85, near Pleasant Hill Road on Thursday night. The driver, Randy Vanallen Cooley, was arrested at the scene, and "charged with DUI, following too close, possession of an open alcohol container, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, driving without a valid license, and failure to register his vehicle in Georgia." The crash happened while the officer was working a five-car accident on the interstate, and Cooley smashed into the back of her patrol car. The vehicle sustained extensive damage. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  3. Update: The suspect, wanted by Monroe Police, is now in custody. De'erreist Laquez Crutchfield was arrested and charged with murder and a list of additional crimes.

  • Head to downtown Lawrenceville's Universal Joint for their 4th Annual Chili Cookoff, where the proceeds benefit The Gwinnett County Jail Dog Program. (12:00 pm - 4:00 pm)
  • It's time for Goat Yoga at the Double Durango Farm in Loganville. Join 3 Dogs Down Yoga studio and a lot of Nigerian Dwarf Goats for a beginners yoga class! (2:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

  • Loganville Middle School is hosting its annual BBQ fundraiser with Up In Smoke, and dinner will be ready for pick up, on March 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at LMS! The order deadline has been extended to Monday, so make sure to get your order in this weekend! Up In Smoke will be serving up your choice of BBQ pork or chicken and your choice of two sides for enough to feed the whole family. (Facebook)
  • Your kids are going to LOVE this weekend's biggest local attraction. The Big Bounce America will be in Lawrenceville, at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, with "the Guinness Book of World Records certified largest bounce house in the world." (Instagram) The bounce house has over 16,000 square feet of pure entertainment. The bounce house holds basketball hoops, a giant ball pit, slides, climbing towers, and more! There is even a spot to chill if you just want to let the little ones run wild, but don't be shy because it's fun for all ages.   • Congratulations to the Loganville Christian Academy boys basketball team as the opened the first round of the GIAA State Playoffs with a win over the Westfield Hornets. Although the five starters for the Lions played exceptional ball, the bench contributed to the win in a team victory to advance to the Elite 8. They will hit the road to Macon this weekend to take on No. 4 Tattnall Square. (Facebook)
