Here are the top five stories in Loganville-Grayson today:

  1. Ashley Dykes, the executive director of Project ReNewal will be the guest speaker at TRIAD in Loganville on Sep. 2. at the Retreat at Loganville. The TRIAD meetings each month allow local senior citizens to gather with law enforcement and learn about what's happening in the community, as well as learn about safety concerns. Officials from the city and county will be giving residential updates, and to top it off—breakfast will be served! (Your Local News)
  2. Changes are coming to Gwinnett County Schools' disciplinary procedures after board members learned that more Gwinnett students were being assigned to an alternative school than five metro districts combined. The approved changes focused on implementing various interventions, such as adult advocation for children, before discipline. On the flip side, some parents are expressing concerns that the school will fail to discipline students who need to be disciplined. (WSB Atlanta)
  3. 44-year-old Jason Bradley Hood of nearby Monroe was arrested Friday on child pornography charges and charged with three counts of possession. During the investigation, starting from a tip received from the Internet Crimes Against Children database, police confiscated cell phones and other devices from Hood's residence. The investigation continues, according to the Monroe Police Department, and more charges could be filed in the process. (Your Local News)
  4. The Eastside Lady Eagles have had back-to-back success in their latest softball games against Jasper County and Clarke Central. Though they've had an uphill climb, Loganville, Jefferson, Flowery Branch and Winder-Barrow rank above them in the region standings. On Tuesday, Eastside will face Loganville. (The Covington News)
  5. Suwanee police are still searching for one of the suspects connected to the murder of a 16-year-old Gwinnett County resident, who was found shot to death at the Residences at McGinnis apartment complex in July 2022. Jermain Dondi Rimson and Miguel Gabriel Flores have been arrested, but Joshua Ryan Poteat remains to be found. Poteat is wanted for felony murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault. (CBS46 News)
