Here are the top five stories today in Loganville-Grayson:

  1. At least two people were wounded during a shooting in a Grayson neighborhood on Sunday afternoon. Gwinnett County Police Department officers responded to the scene at Tullifenney Court around 2:30 p.m., where they discovered two men suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Police believe the person or people responsible are still on the run. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. Georgia Gwinnett College announced Monday that it had a nearly $513 million impact on the local economy last fiscal year. According to data commissioned by the University System of Georgia, the total impact of the campus in nearby Lawrenceville was $4.5 million higher than in 2020. Overall, the school has had a cumulative economic impact of $5.3 billion on the area since the university system began tracking the data. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  3. A Gwinnett County woman saved her husband's life after he suffered from a heart attack at just 27 years old. Tanya Conway, who is a 911 dispatcher, says she began chest compressions on her husband Matthew immediately after waking up to find him unresponsive. After three days in the ICU and more than a week in the hospital, the military veteran and Gwinnett County Police Department detective has returned home and is recovering. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  4. The health department for Gwinnett County is changing its name to GNR Public Health. The new name encompasses the Gwinnett, Newton, and Rockdale health departments that currently comprise the local health district. The district will spend the remainder of this year phasing in its new name and branding, which includes a new logo and website. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
