Two Gwinnett House Fires Blamed On Lightning
A third lightning strike was reported Wednesday morning in Gwinnett County, but no damage was found.

LOGANVILLE, GA — A pair of Gwinnett County house fires Wednesday morning were blamed on lightning strikes as severe thunderstorms rolled through the area.
At 9:42 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire on the 4000 block of Winchester Way in Loganville. The caller reported the fire as a possible lightning strike. No injuries from the blaze were reported.
Ten minutes later, another house fire was reported on the 5100 block of Bowers Brook Drive in Lilburn.

In that case, caller also said the fire was caused by a lightning strike to the roof of the home.
Again, no injuries were reported Wednesday morning as crews continued to work to bring the blaze under control.

A third strike was reported at 9:41 a.m. in Norcross. There was no indication of smoke or flames when fire trucks arrived and no injuries were reported.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch Wednesday morning for much of north and central Georgia, along with a flash flood watch and hazardous weather outlook. (Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts).
The service's hazardous weather outlook called for scattered to numerous severe thunderstorms Wednesday and Wednesday night, with damaging winds that could blow in excess of 60 m.p.h. and hail up to two inches.
