Two Gwinnett Restaurants Fail Health Inspections This Week

A Loganville seafood restaurant and a Lilburn Chinese place earned unsatisfactory scores.

LOGANVILLE, GA — A Loganville seafood restaurant and a Lilburn Chinese spot both failed their health inspections this week.

O'Shucks Seafood and Grill, at 3939 Atlanta Hwy., missed a passing grade by a single point on Thursday, getting a score of 69/U.

In their report, inspectors mainly complained about food storage techniques at the restaurant.

In a cooler, raw ground beef was being stored above seafood, raw chicken was being stored on top of bacon, raw beef was stacked on top of raw fish and shelled raw eggs were being stored above sauces.

A lemon slicer and the drink nozzles of a beverage dispenser had food debris on them and some food in the cooler was being stored past its expiration date.

Inspectors also found some hot food being stored at too low of a temperature and food items in containers that weren't clearly marked.

Inspectors will return to the restaurant, usually within 10 days, to make sure improvements have been made.

Meanwhile, in Lilburn, the China Wok at 4155 Lawrenceville Hwy. scored a failing 52/U.

"Multiple critical violations" were occurring at the restaurant, according to the inspection report.

A food handler was seen handling raw chicken, then touching takeout containers without washing hands first.

Raw beef and raw shrimp were being stores above ready-to-eat food in a cooler. Raw chicken was being stored above pork, beef and fish.

Multiple food containers were not covered, an ice machine was dirty and containers of salt, sugar and MSG were not labeled.

The report also noted other areas of the kitchen simply not being clean.

Inspectors will conduct a follow up inspection. Multiple failures by a restaurant could lead to its being temporarily shut down to address problems there or, ultimately, having its license revoked.
