Here are the top stories in Loganville-Grayson today:

  1. The U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program has awarded $200,000 to Gwinnett County to improve road safety conditions. Gwinnett County will contribute an additional $50,000 toward their Countywide Safety Action Plan. With the focus on preventing roadway injuries and fatalities for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians, Gwinnett County will use the federal and local funds to improve upon the county's roadway safety plan. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  2. Good news for anyone who may have a traffic citation from nearby Duluth. From now until April 30, the Duluth Municipal Court will be offering a Citation Amnesty Program for minor violations, including most traffic violations. "Periodically, the city finds an accumulation of cases for minor infractions on their books." Sometimes people can't afford to pay the fine and avoid coming to court, and other times people simply forget about the citation. When this happens a bench warrant is issued, but the program will help you resolve any outstanding traffic issues with Duluth. The amnesty program is an opportunity to resolve these issues and have some fees waived altogether. To participate, you can call, email, or stop by the municipal clerk's office. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. Following up on the shooting on Nunnally Farm Road last week, the Walton County Sheriff's Office has released additional information. "Thomas Daniel Rylee, is being held on charges of murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a crime and convicted felon in possession of a weapon." The incident occurred on Valentine's Day, and police have confirmed that the victim was Kathleen Ann Laughlin Rylee, 61, of Monroe. She was the victim's mother. Officials have confirmed that "the case has not been closed and the investigation continues." (Monroe Local)
