Walton Sheriff's K9 Falco Promoted To Sergeant
In other news announced Thursday, Falco will be getting a K-9 partner in Walton County soon.

LOGANVILLE, GA — The Walton County Sheriff's Office has a new sergeant. And he's barking happy about it.
The promotion of Falco, a K-9 trained in tracking suspects and sniffing out drugs and other contraband, was announced Thursday on the sheriff's office's Facebook page.
The post notes that Sheriff Joe Chapman has a strict promotion policy, and that he passed all the necessary physical tests and an "oral interview."

"Sheriff Chapman waived the written exam (first time for that)," the post noted.
To be clear, Falco didn't get a promotion for nothing. In recent months, the sheriff's office has taken to social media time and time again to celebrate his on-the-job exploits.

In March, Falco tracked down a suspect who fled officers and was hiding in a horse field after a police chase. In April, he again helped track down three people running from sheriff's deputies.
He also frequently does public relations work, appearing alongside sheriff's deputies speaking to local students and at other community events.
The post about Falco's promotion also broke some other news — it looks like Falco will have a four-legged friend to help fight crime in Walton County soon.
"Watch this page," the post reads. "In a couple of weeks, Sgt. Falco will have a K-9 partner. We are excited!!"
