- A new partnership between Gwinnett County and Habitat for Humanity is helping fund plumbing repairs for low-income homeowners. The Water Resources Assistance Program (WRAP) uses federal coronavirus recovery funds to help pay for repairs for water leaks, septic systems, and resulting damage to homes. To qualify, families must own and live in their homes and make no more than 60 percent of the area's median income. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- A Georgia-based shoe company is creating over 300 jobs in Gwinnett County. According to an announcement made by Governor Brian P. Kemp last week, Okabashi Brands Inc. will invest over $20 million into its local facility over the next five years, doubling production. Positions with the family-owned company will be available in manufacturing and distribution. (WSB Atlanta)
- Visibility Club hosted the first-ever county-wide pride event in Gwinnett County last Saturday, Jun. 25. The event at Lillian Webb Park featured a full day of musical and dance performances. The organization also presented Visibility Awards to three members of the LGBTQ community in Gwinnett County. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
