"Why I Am A Trapper"

In order to clear up some Misconceptions and Misinformation that private individuals and Animal Activists organizations put out about the business of Trapping, I am going to explain to the General Public why I am a Trapper. Some say I am a Death Worshiper. Others say I do it out of Blood lust. People who have never met me or know me at all make these claims, which are blatantly Untrue. Let's see what the Bible says about Man's relationship with animals.

Genesis 1:26 : "And God Said, "Let Us make Man in Our Image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the Earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the Earth."

I Trap because Man is the only one that can intelligently manage the population. We are the Ultimate Predators and the only enemy the Coyote has in the United States, other than disease. He is the most intelligent and adaptable Predator, even more so than the Gray Wolf. He is Evolving into a much more dangerous animal due to increased Habituation to Human contact in Urban areas. It is my educated belief that coyote to human attacks will rise exponentially in the next few decades due to this interaction. We are the Men and Women who stand in the gap between a dangerous Predator and the innocent human adults, children, pets, livestock and other wildlife. We are the Protectors, if you will. We are the Watchers that intercede when coyotes develop bad attitudes and disease. I am very Proud of what I do as a Trapper. I apologize to No One. I bow to No One, but God. I will continue to do my own research, read and study the latest research across the country, separate the wheat from the chaff, and educate the General Public as to the Truth About Trapping. When I am in full blown trapping mode, I am a Coyotes' worst Enemy. Three of my Personal attributes that are dear to my Heart are......I am Persistent, I am Patient, and most of all, I am Relentless. I do NOT give up. Once I get on a Coyote's trail and learn his route, he is a dead dog walking. He just doesn't know it yet. The smart ones Challenge Me to the limits of my mental and physical endurance. But this is how I learn from them. Eventually, he will show Me how and where I can kill him. He leaves scat, he leaves tracks, he leaves carcasses. All of these I use in my efforts to catch him. He is not a Ghost.
Consider this. How much skill does it require to find and influence this Predator to put his foot on a 2" pan of a trap, who has at least a 5 mile, and more likely a 10 mile circular route that he may pass thru an area only once in 10-14 days? One must have intimate knowledge the Predator's habits, his favored travel ways, funnel type land features and topography and must scout completely to find those few areas in which to set his traps that have the highest probability of capturing him. These skills require years of experience to Master. This is the Challenge that I love. The satisfaction I receive from doing this scouting, setting and the hard work and then finally capturing the animals can not be described in words. I also work closely with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources in making recommendations to the Board of Directors that would allow us to be more effective at what we do. I have been asked by the Executive Director of the Georgia Trappers' Association if I would be willing to be a Director for the GTA in my District. If things move forward as expected, this should happen in the next few weeks. I am involved with our Senators and the Legislature concerning collaborative efforts with the DNR, Law Enforcement and other entities to work at managing our regional Coyote population. Hopefully, local governments will begin to understand the necessity of Wildlife Management and join us in this work. I encourage the general public to visit my FB page "The Truth About Wildlife Trapping and Management".
