You need a Unicorn - The 3 Online Business Boomers - Pt. 1 Web Design

I am writing about how I am giving away unicorns for your business. Not real unicorns, but knowledge that is as good as a unicorn bringing you gold coins every morning!

I spent 6 hours in the car yesterday driving home, which means I had a lot of time to think and contemplate things. One of the things I was thinking about was how I could better serve my clients and readers. When you have 6 hours to think you have great ideas and at some points you have crazy ideas. Like one idea was to find all my clients and readers magical unicorns that delivered gold coins to them every morning. Now this is a great idea, but it isn't based in reality. However what I can do is build and help you build online unicorns that deliver new customers or gold coins to you every day! How awesome would that be?

This is where this 3 part blog post came from, I am separating it because right now I have no clue how long it is going to be, so I didn't want you to feel over whelmed if it became a little wordy while I am talking about your potentially shiny new unicorns that bring you gold coins... Yes I know it sounds a little crazy, but the best stories and metaphors about life come from crazy ideas and conceptions. So bare with me as I talk about unicorns and how it relates to your online business.

So lets start with the very first thing you should have already done with your business, your website...

Web Design - Your 1st Online Business Boomer!

Before we get into this, if you are serious about growing your business online, you need a website. Everything I teach is different ways to drive traffic to ultimately your website. Which is part of the reason why I just redesigned this one and gave it a new and better layout. I also made it responsive so that if you read it on a smart phone or tablet it will be easier to read. If you don't have a website, stop reading and send me an email so that I can call you and talk to you about a website. Click here to send me an email!

Ok for those of you who have a website, is it responsive or do you have a mobile site attached to it? If you answered no to either of those, click here to send me a message so I can call you and discuss updating your website!

Ok, for those of you who have a fairly new website, either responsive or you have a mobile site attached to it, let's jump into some things you need to be doing with your website.

One of the people I follow online and am in a couple of FB groups with said something profound to the group a few months back. She said that your front page is your online business card, the pages inside your site are where the meat of your company, the products and offerings live. You should make sure that the inside of your site is just as appealing as the front page. This was something that I had thought about in the past, but it struck me hard that day. It told me that the way I need to look at my website and the web design I do for clients needs to be setup as a business card, then have great information inside the site. But on top of that, on every page of the website there should be a call to action.

This is where businesses miss out in their web design when they are blogging for business growth. They are giving great information about their business and are probably getting some traffic going to their blog through searches they were unaware of unless they are tracking. The potential customer comes to the site, reads the blog, then does nothing but closes the window. Why? Because they weren't told to do anything! There were no calls to action in the blog or on the page! I am a little over half way into this blog post and I have already included 2 calls to action.

Think about it for a minute, how much traffic are you getting to your website? Wait, you don't know? Well you better click here to message me so we can get you setup to track your traffic! If you know how much traffic you are getting, then do you know how many people are calling you or emailing you because of your website? I hope so! If you have a form on your site for people to fill out, that is a great way to track how many people are converting to customers!

So here is what I just gave you that you need to be doing, this is my first gold coin giving unicorn. You need a website, it needs to be responsive or have a mobile site attached to it. You need to make sure that you are keeping your front page simple like a business card with a clear call to action. All of the pages on your site need to be setup with a clear call to action. You really should be blogging as part of your online marketing strategy. There needs to be some form of tracking on your site that you need to be looking at to make sure you are converting visitors. A form on your site is a great way to grab potential prospects so that you can call them instead of having them call you.

If you do all of those things, this is going to be a great first step to making your online business boom! Now let's get into The 3 Online Business Boomers - Part 2 SEO
