Bold Monk Brewing Co. Hosts Outstanding Author Series on March 5
An Evening of Civic Discourse with "We Keep Us Safe" Author Zach Norris Takes Place Thursday, March 5
Bold Monk Brewing Co., Atlanta’s first brewery, restaurant, bookstore, and beer garden, has announced the inaugural event in its Outstanding Author Series.
"An Evening of Civic Discourse with Author Zach Norris" is being held in partnership with the Decatur Book Festival. The free event, which takes place at Bold Monk Brewing Co. on Thursday, March 5 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., will focus on Norris' new book, We Keep Us Safe: Building Secure, Just, and Inclusive Communities. This important discussion will focus on fostering and building a more democratic society.

The book by community leader and lawyer Zach Norris is hailed as a groundbreaking new vision for public safety that overturns more than 200 years of fear-based discrimination, othering, and punishment.
Norris is the executive director of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, which creates campaigns related to civic engagement, violence prevention, juvenile justice, and police brutality, with a goal of shifting economic resources away from prisons and punishment and towards economic opportunity. He is also the co-founder of Restore Oakland and Justice for Families, both of which focus on the power of community action.

“Bold Monk is meant to be a space where the community can come together for discourse and conversation,” said Alan LeBlanc, president and CCO of Brewed to Serve Restaurant Group. “The inaugural event for our Outstanding Author Series, in partnership with the Decatur Book Festival, is poised to present a thought-provoking and meaningful discussion for the evening.”
