A cement truck which overturned in Midtown earlier this week and slightly injured former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young is more than coincidentally connected to a cement truck involved in a wreck in Decatur a few days prior.

According to 11 Alive News, the wrecked trucks both belong to Ready Mix USA, a company which operates out of Birmingham. Additionally, the station reports that the truck drivers in both incidents were cited for driving too fast for conditions and failure to obey a traffic signal.

On Monday, WSB-TV reported that Andrew Young was involved in an accident which involved a cement truck at Hemphill Avenue and 14th Street just before 5 p.m. That day, Atlanta police told Patch that the truck crushed two cars and caused a small diesel spill, but nobody was entrapped due to the incident. 11 Alive talked to Young and learned he received a bump on his shin when the cement truck fell on the hood of his car, but was otherwise fine.

Last Wednesday, Decatur police spokeswoman Lt. Jennifer Ross said that a cement truck and another vehicle collided at North Decatur Road and Superior Avenue at 12:22 p.m. The driver of the passenger car suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the cement truck was not injured in the crash. 11 Alive news reports that the truck in fact rolled over and crushed a silver Audi.

Ready Mix USA defended its driver training program in a statment to 11 Alive, and a check of the company’s history revealed it is ranked in the 18th percentile for safety.
