Atlanta resident Mark Buford, the creator of “Scary Gary,” paid a visit recently to The LIFE School, a self-directed project-based high school in Castleberry Hill. The comic strip deals with the everyday inconveniences of vampires in the suburbs. Distributed through Creators Syndicate, “Scary Gary” is published in “The Atlanta Journal-Constitution” and 100 other publications across the country.
A graduate of the University of West Georgia, Buford discussed his creative process, from drawing the characters to importing them into Photoshop, where he colors them.
Professionals like Mark Buford regularly visit The LIFE School students to expose them to various occupations, disciplines and possible career paths. More information on the school is available at www.TheLifeSchool.co.
