Atlanta, GA — Donald Trump will be speaking at a venue in the heart of the city's gay community on Wednesday.

Doors open at 9 a.m. at Atlanta's historic Fox Theatre in Midtown, home to many of the city's gay bars, restaurants and popular venues.

Trump had planned the campaign stop before last Sunday's deadly Orlando shooting, but social media is ablaze Tuesday morning with speculation that he chose the Fox Theatre only within the last day or so because of its Midtown location:

Trump's appearance was announced last week but only as a fundraising event hosted by Gov. Nathan Deal and U.S. Sen. David Perdue, the Georgia Republican Party's first such official event for the candidate.

At least 50 people were killed and dozens others injured Sunday at Pulse Orlando Night Club & Ultra Lounge, a popular gay bar. The alleged gunman was identified as 29-year-old Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, an American citizen born to Afghan parents in New York. Before the shooting, Mateen reportedly called 911 and pledged his allegiance to the Islamic State.

Trump didn't hold back, tweeting that he did not want "congrats" for being "right" on radical Islamic terrorism while not mentioning that his proposed ban on Muslims coming to the United States would not have included the gunman, who was born in the United States.

Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism, I don't want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance. We must be smart!
