LifeLine Animal Project and Atlanta Humane Society to Hold Post-Irma Mega Adoption Event

Join us this weekend to meet hundred of adorable cats and dogs just waiting to brighten your life!

LifeLine Animal Project and the Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) are partnering to host a mega adoption event this weekend for hundreds of animals looking for new homes in the wake of hurricane Irma. Join us this Saturday, September 16, and Sunday, September, 17, from noon to 6 p.m., at the AHS’s temporary emergency shelter, located at 1425 Market Blvd in Roswell. Adoption prices vary among organizations, however all LifeLine Animal Project cats and all dogs over 25 lbs. may be adopted for $40, including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations.

Prior to the storm hitting Atlanta, LifeLine Animal Project employees worked around the clock, evacuating about 400 animals from their Fulton County Animal Services (FCAS) shelter to ensure their safety, since the shelter was at risk of flooding. LifeLine was able to place 100 of the 400 animals with rescue groups, 50 of the animals in local foster homes and about 200 at the AHS emergency shelter. The remaining animals either got adopted or came back to the FCAS shelter after the storm. Many employees spent nights at the shelter to help facilitate the animals’ placements and transports.

According to LifeLine’s FCAS Director Lara Hudson, LifeLine is very appreciative of the AHS's generosity. “We are so grateful to AHS for taking in so many of our shelter animals,” says Hudson. “It is wonderful to be partnering with them to save lives.”
