Grenada Man Charged in Murder of Atlanta Woman

The Royal Grenada Police Force has arrested and charged a man in the murder of a Candler Park woman who was killed Sunday night while on a Caribbean vacation with her husband.

Police have charged Dave Martin Benjamin in the murder of Jessica Colker, 39. Colker’s husband, Brian Melito, reported her missing around noon, and Colker was late found dead, according to the AJC.

Benjamin is expected to make a court appearance Wednesday morning.

Initial media reports were that Colker and her husband were attacked by an assailant using a sword or blade, but police now say that no such weapon was used in the attack. Colker’s cause of death is now being reported as resulting from an extensive skull fracture and loss of oxygen.

Colker was a physician’s assistant with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Melito, 62, is also a physician.
