MARTA, Bus Driver May be Sued by Mother of Atlanta Girl Killed by Bus

Eyewitnesses allege the bus which struck and killed Brenda Travis last month entered the intersection at an unsafe speed.

MARTA and one of its bus drivers may be the subject of legal action initiated by the mother of a young woman who was struck and killed by a bus while crossing an Atlanta street last month.

Brenda Travis, 19, was hit by a MARTA bus while crossing Lee Street on Sept. 24. According to WSB-TV, the driver of the bus told police that he had a green light to drive through the intersection. Additionally, Travis was looking down at her cell phone and was wearing headphones when his bus hit her.

Eyewitnesses to the accident told the station that Travis was nearly across the street when she was struck, and that the bus was traveling too fast when it crossed the intersection.
