Mayor Kasim Reed to Participate in "America Answers" Forum
Mayor Reed will join Vice President Joe Biden and other large American cities to discuss the future of transportation.

Mayor Kasim Reed will participate in the “America Answers” forum, a live event series by the Washington Post featuring innovators in government, industry, and start-ups tackling national issues. This year’s forum is called “Fix My Commute.” Mayor Reed will join government and business leaders from around the country to talk about improving America’s transportation system.
“I’m honored to join Vice President Biden and mayors from across the country to discuss innovative ways to improve our transportation systems and better prepare us for the future.” said Mayor Kasim Reed. “I will continue to work hard to make sure all our citizens are able to move easily around the City of Atlanta, even as our population grows.”

Ride-sharing, big data, traffic apps, advanced fuels, smart parking, connected and driverless cars, urban designs, and new bus systems are dramatically changing the face of transportation. At the forum, leaders will discuss next generation train travel and the most effective use of mass transit, along with what our commute is likely to look like in the years ahead. Local communities will share what they are doing to upgrade infrastructure. The event will also feature a display of a flying car prototype and demonstrations of electric skateboards and bikes.
Additional leaders participating in “Fix My Commute” include Chris Urmson, Director of Self-Driving cars at Google [x]; Ken Washington, VP for Research and Engineering, Ford Motor Co.; Diarmuid O’Connell, VP, Business Development, Tesla Motors; Matthew George, CEO, Bridj; Stephen Gardner, VP Northeast Corridor Infrastructure and Investment Development, Amtrak; Di-Ann Eisnor, Head of Global Partnerships, Waze; Veronica Juarez, Director of Government Relations, Lyft; and Edward B. Rust Jr., Chairman of the Board & CEO of State Farm.

“Fix My Commute” is the first event from The Post’s America Answers event series that highlights how communities are leading the way on addressing problems, and puts a spotlight on ideas that could have national applications.
