Midtown Restaurant Fails Health Inspection
The inspector noted several serious violations which could cause food to be contaminated, such as mold in the ice machine.
A restaurant in Midtown will have to revamp its food safety and personal policies after it failed its most recent health inspection from the Fulton County Environmental Health Services Department.
According to WhatNowAtlanta, Cypress Street Pint and Plate on West Peachtree Street scored a 52 on its Jan. 20 health inspection. Several other restaurants in Atlanta received failing grades as well; these restaurants can be found on WhatNowAtlanta.
The report for Cypress Street Pint and Plate lists 16 food safety violations, which could lead to contaminated food and foodborne illnesses. Some of the violations included:

- Worker seen handling ready to eat (salad items) with bare hands when glove or utensil use is required.
- Observed multiple open beverage container on a food preparation table or over/next to clean equipment/utensils.
- Observed raw animal foods not properly separated (improper horizontal) from each other in holding unit/during preparation raw chicken stored behind seafood in protein cooler next to fryer.
- Multiple food items found stored in walk in cooler uncovered and subject to contamination.
- Observed heavy mold build- up inside icemachine.
- Observed beverages-syrup boxes stored past disposal date marked.
Upon re-inspection on Jan. 23, Cypress Street Pint and Plate scored a 98.
The failed health inspection is out of character for the restaurant; the previous two inspections (in 2013 and 2011) recorded scores of 90 and 96, respectively.
